President’s Message – March 2020

“Meetings are at the heart of an effective organization, and each meeting is an opportunity to clarify issues, set new directions, sharpen focus, create alignment, and move objectives forward.”
~ Paul Axtell

Paul Axtell’s quote sums up what will be accomplished at our upcoming Annual Conference to be held March 4th – 6th in beautiful Southern California at the Park Hyatt Aviara. In addition to the outstanding educational sessions and networking opportunities your Association leadership will be informing you of new and valuable educational and training opportunities that will benefit your company. Attendees will also hear from with a great array of outstanding presenters and be provided with ample opportunities to not only network with fellow attendees, but also have one-on-one time with speakers to further expand your business opportunities during our receptions and roundtable networking sessions.

In addition to the great individual break-out session speakers, attendees will also be able to learn from the outstanding array of exceptionally qualified presenters during our highly valued “Food Safety & Sanitary Design Panel Discussion” where subject matter experts from across all major segments will be engaging the attendees in valuable substantive discussions.

This year’s keynote session will be one that you surely will not want to miss. We are very excited to hear and learn from Jim Donald, the former CEO of Starbucks, Pathmark Supermarkets, and Extended Stay Hotels, and currently the co-chairman of the Board of Albertson’s. Jim’s playbook on leadership, which spans over three decades, will focus on how businesses succeed through motivating people. While articulating what has worked for him in over seven companies, with revenues ranging from 1 billion to over 60 billion, Jim will also challenge the leadership in the audience about how best to “prepare for the future”. Without question, the attendees will walk away with tools and advice they can immediately employ in your own business. Click HERE to read more about Jim’s impressive career.

Please don’t forget about one of the truly wonderful events taking place at our conference, the FPSA Auction. We will be both, raising funds for a variety of great charitable causes and having a great evening with James Cunningham, our auctioneer/entertainer for the evening. It is not too late to still make a donation to the event. Anyone who wishes to contribute or make a donation should reach out to Alaina Herrera at Aherrera@fpsa.org.

Also, please keep in mind that our 2020 Career Development Scholarship program provided by our Foundation which will award up to 15 scholarships to FPSA members' employees and immediate family members, has officially launched. The application process ends on April 17th.  Winners will be notified in June. To learn more about the program, please click HERE.  If you need more posters to place throughout your office to promote the program, please contact Ann Marie Penaranda at apenaranda@fpsa.org.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me at dseckman@fpsa.org or at 703/663-1200 with any questions regarding how you can utilize the services and benefits of the Association or if we can be of any assistance to your company/team. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming conference!

Sincerely,

David Seckman
