McLean, VA – The Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) today announced that its Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance Foundation (MISAF) raised over $150,000 on Thursday, March 16th during the Foundation Banquet and Auction held at the FPSA Annual Conference at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, California.  These funds are used to support the MISA Foundation’s Scholarship Program for deserving students studying meat sciences at universities throughout North America.

“We are very proud of the record-breaking results of this year’s auction,” said Bob Grote, Chairman of the MISA Foundation. “This demonstrates the commitment of MISA’s membership to supporting the scholarship program and the education of our nation’s most impressive meat science students. This year, the MISA Foundation will be using the monies raised to provide $10,000 scholarships to very worthy students in pursuit of their educational goals and ultimately a career in the meat industry.”

“Last year, the MISA Foundation awarded seven $10,000 scholarships to a variety of students from some of the nation’s most prestigious university meat science programs.” said FPSA President and CEO David Seckman. “Thanks to the results of this year’s auction we look forward to continuing this valued program and assisting another group of promising students.”

The Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance is governed by an all-volunteer board of directors who take an active role in the review and selection of scholarship winners. For more information on the Meat Industry Supplier Alliance contact David Seckman at 703-663-1200 or dseckman@fpsa.org.
