HENRY MORRIS OF SMITHFIELD FOODS HONORED AT
MISA NETWORKING BREAKFAST

On October 25, 2007, over sixty suppliers to the meat industry met in Chicago at a MISA networking breakfast to honor Henry Morris of Smithfield Foods. MISA, the Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance, is an industry council of the Food Processing Suppliers Association.

One of the important activities of MISA is to engage its customers in areas of mutual interest. Whether it's working to develop guidelines for the sanitary design of equipment or seeking ways to become not only suppliers but partners, MISA is in the forefront.

Dr. George Melnykovich, President and COO of FPSA presided at the award ceremony saying: "Among the many processors with whom we have worked, one has risen to exceptional heights for his outstanding support of our efforts and for his initiation of programs to improve processor/supplier relations…Henry Morris of Smithfield Foods."

MISA presented Mr. Morris with a rendering of a pig on a quilt created by Janet Bergeron of Stork-Townsend Inc. Mrs. Bergeron is not only a master quilter, having won many awards for her work, but also the chairperson of MISA. The plaque accompanying the quilt reads, "To Henry Morris of Smithfield Foods, in recognition of his many contributions to improve processor and supplier relations and in gratitude for his support of the Meat Industry Suppliers Alliance (MISA), of the Food Processing Suppliers Association."
