On behalf of the FPSA staff, I want to wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year. We thank you for your continued support and look forward to the opportunity to serving you in 2012.
The arrival of a new year is a time for making resolutions. Many of us will resolve to exercise more often and push away from the dinner table more quickly. A review of the t.v. ads these past few weeks confirmed that losing weight and becoming more fit is probably the number one resolution favored by the American public.
The beginning of a new year also fills us with hope. Hope that 2012 will be better than the previous year. Hope that Congress and the Obama administration can find some common ground and address the pressing issues facing our economy. Hope that we will be able to withstand the onslaught of political ads that come in an election year. Well, we can hope.
To the resolutions you may have made, allow me to add one to your list. Become even more involved with the work of your Association. Increased involvement is a resolution that will pay great dividends. Your association staff will be greatly emphasizing the expansion and growth of your Industry Councils. We have an Industry Council for each of the major food industry sectors. Each of these Councils is always looking for volunteer leaders to contribute to programs and goals that impact their sector. You will find that the more you become involved, the more you contribute, the more you will receive.
If you want to see the Councils in action, I urge you to attend the FPSA Annual Conference. In addition to the General Sessions, our Industry Councils will have concurrent break-out sessions focusing on issues that impact the business of their respective sectors. And, yes they have a great gym at the Biltmore in Miami, home for the Annual Conference, so you can keep up your resolution to work out in 2012!
